Tool Changer Options

MultiCam's Automatic Tool Changing system is certain to improve production time by changing tools faster and more efficiently. MultiCam has standardized on the RA series spindles which are the finest that Colombo has to offer. Unlike many of the extrusions based 60% duty cycle spindles on the market, the Colombo RA series spindles operate at 90% duty cycle when air cooled and 100% duty cycle when liquid cooled.

Automatic Tool Change Systems (ATC)

ATC System Features:

• Very easy to use. No special post processor sub routines needed
• Colombo Spindle uses standard tool holders and ER collets
• 8 position rotary Carousel on 5000, MT, and MT Pro Series Machines.
• 4 and 8 position Linear ATC systems on 3000 Series Machines.
• Automatic Tool Length Compensation with touch probe to automatically calibrate and store tool length offsets. This data is then stored and is automatically addressed by our motion controller.
• Auto Starting - The spindle is automatically started at the beginning of the file and turned off at the end.
• Digital Spindle Speed - Digital, programmable spindle speed gives real time feedback of the current spindle speed. Exact spindle speeds can be entered in the files and adjusted at the keypad in real time.
• Torque Monitoring - The current draw of the spindle is displayed on the keypad during cutting. This allows the user to monitor the cutter for wear.

HSK tool holders offer 2.5 times the holding force and greater safety then the ISO tool holders.
